Sustainability can help your brand

We're committed to informing our clients (current & potential) of developments and opportunities, offered by the creative industry, available to you and beneficial for your business. Our purpose is primarily to inform and empower you but clearly we'd love to hear from you and discuss these issues further and hopefully see some of them through to an effective marketing solution for you.The first of our latest e-mails deals with the subject of 'Sustainability' and how such issues as 'Carbon Emissions' and 'Footprints' can be turned to your advantage.Sustainability can help your brandSustainability - does it stop at the office door? Were not talking about switching off computers overnight and weekends (by the way, this can save up to £63 a year per machine), but more about how reducing your company's carbon footprint could benefit your business, as well as the environment.Sustainability is heading for massive growth alongside significant implementation programmes. In the future, there could be Government certification for companies with minimum (or no) CO2 - officially and legally needed like Equal Opportunities (such as the proposed Defra and Carbon Trust 'footprint standard' muted for launch in 3 years time). Early pioneers will benefit by being years ahead of those who have put this issue on the back burner. And it's not just a 'feel good' factor - there will be, if not already, a direct impact on business success largely governed by a company's ability to be recognised as a credible, fully sustainable organisation. This commitment will become part of a company's future brand values. Still not convinced? There is little doubt, discerning consumers actively engage with brands packaged in material that causes little or no environmental impact, as well as being recyclable. These consumers will soon be making social judgement on other brands too, not just fmcg. Marketers can lead by example. Whilst consumers are happy to engage with greener companies but not necessarily willing to pay more, clever marketing and the use of a combination of media to achieve your marketing goals, can be perceived as 'green campaigns' and, in this unsettled financial market, could potentially save you money whilst also adding to your green credentials. Generator will happily discuss with you how your design and marketing can become more 'environmentally friendly' or 'sustainable'.Some interesting facts:- The year 1998 was the warmest of record. The year 2002 was the second warmest (to that date). The year 2003 was the third warmest (to that date). The year 2004 was the fourth warmest (to that date). The year 2005 equaled 1998 as the warmest of record. The year 2007 equaled 1998 as the second warmest of record.- The 10 warmest years on record have occurred since 1990.- According to the Department of Trade and Industry, 50% of the UK's carbon emissions comes from the non-renewable energy used to run and power our buildings.- If all of the Antarctic ice melted, sea levels around the world would rise about 61 meters (200 feet). Some useful links:http://www.carbontrust.co.uk/http://www.carbontruststandard.com/http://www.carbon-label.com/http://www.carbonneutral.com/http://campaigns.direct.gov.uk/actonco2/home.htmlhttp://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/layer?topicId=1079068363&r.lc=en&r.s=tlhttp://www.defra.gov.uk/http://www.fsc.org/http://www.bsigroup.co.uk/en/Assessment-and-Certification-services/Management-systems/Standards-and-Schemes/ISO-14001/http://www.bsigroup.co.uk/en/Assessment-and-Certification-services/Management-systems/Standards-and-Schemes/CFV/
